The chart illustrates the ratio of men and women studying six art-related subjects at a UK university in 2011. Overall, in five subjects out of six females outnumber males.
Clearly, more students studied Linguistics, English language and literature, and Communication and Media Studies, whereas in the two former the difference was the smallest and is just around 10 students. Fewer people attended Philosophy, History and Archeology, and Art and Design. However, it can be seen that in Philosophy the distinction is more noticeable between the two genders and count 150 women with only 50 men.
On the other hand, the only subject where the number of male listeners was higher than female is Art and Design with about 170 and 155 individuals respectively. Although, this is not the biggest number as, for example, in English Language and Literature where there were slightly less than 250.
To sum up, the graph clearly shows that this type of subject is more popular among women.
