Some health experts recommend that individuals must eat five or more portions of fruit and vegetables daily. The chart demonstrates the proportion of males and females in the UK by age category in 2006. Overall, women consumed more fruit and vegetables than their counterparts across all age groups. Females in 55-64 age bracket stood out among others with consistently higher figures.
Females consistently exhibited higher fruit and vegetables intake in all age groups. While over 15% of women aged 19-24 consumed fruit and vegetables, this figure was dramatically higher in the next age group with over 20% of women. In 36-44 age group the proportion of women is not as high as in 45-54 age bracket. Despite this, in 55-64 age category the proportion of women showed a staggering 35% who consumed fruit and vegetables 5 portions per day. When it comes to people who were from 65-74 age bracket, the data displays a slightly lower women who intake fruit and vegetables with about 28%, and further reduction of those 75+ with 20 percent of women who consumed fruit and vegetables.
In contrast, the data for men showed fewer irregularities. 15% of men aged 19-24 like intake fruit and vegetables compared to 20% of males aged 25-34 who enjoy consume it. In the next two age groups displayed similar figures of roughly 22 percent. The proportion of men aged in 55-64 and 65-74 is highest, with respective figures of over 30% and over 25%. Interestingly, only in the oldest age group men showed the same figures like their counterparts with 20%.
