The bar chart compares the proportion of renewable energy in the total energy supply of four countries (Australia, Sweden, Iceland and Turkey) in the years 1997, 2000 and 2010.
Overall, Iceland had the highest share of renewable energy in all three years, while Australia and Sweden had the lowest proportions. Additionally, renewable energy usage increased significantly in Iceland and Sweden, whereas it generally declined in Australia and Turkey.
In 1997, Iceland used 46% renewable energy, which increased to 60% in 2000 and then rose sharply to 70% in 2010. Turkey, on the other hand, started at 39% in 1997 and slightly increased to 41% by 2000, before falling to 32% in 2010.
Both Australia and Sweden had relatively low proportions throughout the period. In Australia, renewable energy accounted for 9% in 1997, fell to 7% in 2000 and dropped further to 5% in 2010. Sweden showed a gradual increase from 6% in 1997 to 7% in 2000 and 9% in 2010.
