Overall, there was an increase in the percentage of renewable energy provided in Sweden and Iceland throughout the period, with Iceland consistently recording the highest figures. Meanwhile, Turkey experienced a considerable fluctuation between 1997 and 2010; a decrease was seen in the case of Australia.
In Iceland, an impressive over 40% of renewable energy was used in total in 1997; after three years, this figure rose significantly to 60% before reaching its peak at the end of the period at 70%. Such a growth was also witnessed in the case of Turkey, which ascended from approximately 37% to 40%, yet only between 1997 and 2000. Then, the figure for this country declined to around 30% in 2010.
Regarding countries with lower data, starting at nearly 10% in 1997, the share of renewable energy supplied in Australia started to decline marginally, then ended the period at only around 5%. During the same surveyed period, an opposite trend was seen in the case of Sweden, increasing steadily from around 5% in 1997 to nearly 10% in 2010.
