The bar chart compares men and women in terms of the number of trips made for different purposes in a certain European country in 2007.
Overall, travelling to work was more common among men, whereas shopping was more popular among women. In contrast, the figures for visiting friends and sports/entertainment were very similar for both genders. In addition, day trips accounted for the lowest number of journeys among both men and women.
The most noticeable gender differences can be seen in travelling to work and shopping. Women made nearly 280 shopping trips during the year, compared with about 190 trips for men. However, men recorded a significantly higher figure for travelling to work, at approximately 330 trips, whereas the corresponding figure for women was just over 200.
By contrast, the numbers of trips for visiting friends and sports/entertainment were fairly similar between the two genders. Around 200 trips were made to visit friends, while sports and entertainment accounted for approximately 130-140 trips for both men and women. Finally, day trips were the least common purpose, with both genders making only around 30-40 such journeys throughout the year.
