The chart provides a comparative analysis of the number of trips taken by males and females for five different reasons across a European country in one year.
Overall, there were significant differences in the number of trips by men and women for different purposes. It is clear that the majority of trips made by male were for travelling to work, while those made by female are mainly for shopping. Notably, both genders take very few day trips over one-year period.
Focusing on the highest figures first, men made by far the most trips to work, with approximately 330 trips annually, as opposed to women, who made just over 200 trips. In contrast, women made around 280 shopping trips per year, which is 90 trips higher than those made by men.
Turning to daily trips, the numbers of trips made by men and women were relatively similar. Both genders made fewer than 50 trips in a year. Sports and entertainment trips were approximately triple the number of day trips, at around 140 trips per year for both men and women. Lastly, visits to friends accounted for about 200 trips annually for men and women alike.
