The chart illustrates the number of trips made by men and women for different purposes over the course of a year in a European country.
Overall, commuting to work accounts for the highest number of trips among men, whereas women make the most trips for shopping. In contrast, day trips are the least common purpose for both genders.
Men make approximately 340 trips per year to commute to work, compared to just over 200 trips made by women for the same purpose. By contrast, women undertake around 280 shopping trips annually, while the figure for men is slightly below 200.
Regarding visits to friends, the numbers are relatively similar, at around 205 trips for women and 195 for men. For sports and entertainment, men again record higher figures, at approximately 140 trips, compared to about 135 for women. A similar pattern can be observed for day trips, with men making around 40 trips per year, while women make roughly 30.
