The pie charts illustrate how working adults in an unspecified country spent their time on different activities in 1958 and 2008. Overall, the most noticeable change is that people spent more time on working in 2008 compared with in 1958, while the proportion of time allocated to sleeping and going out with friends and family decreased noticeably.
In 1958, the proportions of working and sleeping time were 33% and 32% respectively. By 2008, the percentage of working time increased by 9%, reached at 42%, while those of sleeping time decreased significantly from 32% to 25%.
Another major change was in social activities. The percentage of going out with friends and family declined considerably from 19% to 6%, whereas those for relaxing time at home showed an increase from 8% to 13% over the period.
At the same time other activities saw smaller changes. The proportion of traveling rose from 2% to 8% and playing sports or engaging in other activities increased from 6% to 8%.
