The provided bar graph shows how much money was spent monthly in terms of five catagories — utilility bills, transport, rent, entertainment, and groceries by British households from 1990 to 2010.
Overall, what stands out is that with the exception of money spent on entertainment , the expenses on utility, bills, transport, rent, and groceries witnessed an increase throughout the given period. Of particular note is that , renting has become the most popular amongst others, with remaining the dominance from the beginning till the end.
Looking at the upward trends , expenditure on rent increased from around 450 pound in 1990 to 600 pound by 2010. In 1990 spending on utility bills stood at about 80 pound after which it rose slightly to 90 pound before going up signjficantly to around 150 pound by 2010. When it comes to transport expenditure , it went up respectively over the given 3 years from 170 pound to 250 pound between1990 and 2010. With regard to expenses for groceries , similar patterns were true as the amount of money was about 330 pound in 1990 and increased slightly in the next years to 350 in 2010.
Turning to the downward trends, the figures for entertainment remained unchanged before falling minimally from 120 pound to 100 pound by 2010.
