The data represents the amount of shops that closed and the number of newly opened shops in a region from 2011 to 2018. The graph shows the highest number of store openings in 2011, and the highest number of store closures in 2013.
In 2011, 8500 shops were opened and 6500 shops were closed, however between 2011 and 2012 the number of store openings decreased significantly to 400 shops. During the period from 2012 to 2014, there was a growth in the number of shops opened reaching around 6000 stores. The number of stores then dropped in a similar rate from 600 stores to around 4000 stores. In the country, between 2015 and 2017, the number of shops newly opened was relatively constant , approximately 4000 stores. Furthermore, towards the end of the time period from 2017 to 2018, there was a slight decline in the number of shop openings. The final number of shop openings was 3000, which is the lowest in the overall data.
Shop closures occurred the most in 2013, nearly 7000 stores. The greatest drop in shop closures was between 2014 and 2015, while the highest steady growth in the amount of shops closing was from 2015 to 2016. In 2015 , the amount of shops closed was at its lowest in the data , around 750 stores, although the number of shop openings was considerably high at that time. During the time interval of 2016 to 2018, shop closures occurred in the same numbers , nearly 500 stores.
