Overall,participation in social work increased steadily,for both ganders the period. Although men consistenly recorder higher figures than women in early years,the gap gradually norrowed,and by 2000 both groups reached the same level.
In 1992 around 4 thousand men were involved in social work,compared with only 2 thousand women.
Women showed asharper growth trend.Their participation increased from 2 thousand in 1992 to 3 thousand in 1994,then doubled to 6 thousand by 1996.This upward trend continued,reaching about 7 thousand in 1998 and finally 10 thousand in 2000,matching the figure for men.
