Overall, male and female participation in most activities is quite similar, particularly in watching TV, spending time with family, doing sports, and reading. The difference is extremely significant in some activities like shopping and using the internet, playing computer games. Moreover, both men and women in England are not interested in playing games in their free time with the lowest percentage.
In terms of man, Watching TV is the most popular activity with over 75 percent.This was followed by using the internet, playing sports, spending time with family and reading, which is fairly comparable at 75 percent. Moreover, the figure of shopping is significantly lower than others with over 25% which is double that of playing computer games.
Concerning females, watching TV is still the most popular activity, with nearly the same proportion of men as women watching it. Furthermore, the proportion of women who spend time with their family is little more than men at nearly 75 percent, but in terms of shopping the difference is really significant when the figure of women is triple that of men. Additionally, doing exercise and reading share the same proportions at nearly 75 percent, whereas using the internet has a much lower percentage at 35,5 percent, just a half of that in terms of men. Finally, playing computer games accounts for the lowest percentage with nearly 13 percent.
