The chart shows differences in the age structures of the Indian and French populations in 1984. The results are given in percentages.
From an overall perspective, it can be seen that the age profiles differed significantly, with India having a mostly young population that decreased as the age increased, while France had almost the same proportion of children and adults under 40.
In India, a substantial portion of the population consisted of kids aged 5-15, accounting for 6-7% of the total population. Then, the started steadily declining, which resulted in 3% of women and men who reached the age of 45−50. Regarding the elderly, there were fewer than those above 65; however, the number of individuals above 70 exceeded a bit: 1% for men, and 1.5% for women.
In France, the figures were consistent, amounting to 4% in the age range of 0-35 years. Nevertheless, it experiences a downward trend, which led to 2.5% men and 3% women, who are older than 40 but younger than 65. With regards to the oldest part, there was a notable disparity in the female population, accounting for 1%, exceeding that of males by fourfold.
