The chart provided illustrates the mass of dairy production in 2012. The data was categorized into 4 products, each of which was documented in the top three countries producing it.
Overall, the European Union (EU) led in the production of milk and cheese. Milk, being the most consumed dairy product, surpassed others in quantity.
In 2012, milk was the most in-demand product, with two of the top three figures exceeding six figures: nearly 143,000 Metric tons (MT) in the EU, and 127,000 in India. The United States ranked third with a notable figure of 90,000. Apart from leading in milk production, the EU also had the highest number of factories producing cheese, with about 7,000, dominating the cheese-making industry.
However, the EU lost its dominance in butter and milk powder production, placing second in butter production (2,040 MT) and third in powdered milk production (770 MT), surpassed by counterparts in Asia and New Zealand.
