Overall, the population in both countries are predicted to witness a significant ageing after 5 decades. Additionally, under 60s comprised the majority of the Yemen’s population and is set to maintain this order in the future, while the same pattern was true for over 15s in Italia
In the case of Yemen, the 0-14-year-old youngsters constituted over half the population in 2000 and is predicted to observe a substantial decline to over a third after 5 decades. In contrast, the proportion of the age bracket from 15-59 comprised under half the national demographics and is set to increase notably to 57%, overtaking the first place. Meanwhile, a mere 3,6% of Yemen’s residents were over 60 years old and will remain relatively unchanged in the future.
In Italia, the inhabitants aged 15-59, despite taking up the predominant share in 2000 (two-third), are expected to witness a considerable decrease to 46.2% after 50 years. The figure for the 0-14 age bracket was 14,3% and is forecast to decrease by 2%. Finally, the over 60s constituted under a fourth in 2000, and are set to experience a twofold growth in the upcoming future.
