The pie charts illustrate the population of all ages of Yemen and Italy between 2000 and 2050.
Overall, over the period of 50 years starting from 2000, citizens from 15 to 59 years old made up a high proportion of the total citizens in both countries. However, in Italy, the number of the elders are noticeably higher compared with that in Yemen.
In the year 2000, the percentage of adolescents and adults in Italy was the highest, at 62% while in Yemen it was only 46%. However, the infants in Yemen take up one half of the total citizens which makes it become the range of age that has the highest percentage. In contrast, this age group in Italy only takes up 14%, making newborns and preadolescents to be the lowest. Besides, the percentage of elders in Italy was proportionally six times higher than that in Yemen.
By 2050, the proportion of 15-59 year olds will take up 57%, which means it will exceed the rate of infants to become the most crowded age group in Yemen. Conversely, the percentage of that age group in Italy will be reduced significantly by 14% after 50 years, but still being the highest percentage range of age. Another change that will be seen in the year 2050 is the rise of citizens who are at the age of 60 and older in both countries, with Italy at 42% and is six times higher than that in Yemen. Also noteworthy that the percentage of infants in these countries will slightly drop to 12% and 37%, respectively.
