Overall, sci-fi was the single least popular style of movie in China, while in Japan there were two least favourite genres, which had the same shares: sci-fi and comedy. Action was the most adorable type in Japan.
To begin, the smallest number in both China and Japan prefered sci-fi, its proportion accounted for one in twenty. The percentage of comedy in Japan was the same as sci-fi, which is fivefold less than in China, which was a quarter. In China only one in ten chose drama, compared to 25% in Japan.
Turning to action, in Japan it had the largest share, at 57%, while romance accounted for only 8% of all genres. Compared to China, where action and romance were equally popoular, each representing 30%. Together they made up 60%, which was more than the most preferable style in Japan.
