The bar charts provide a breakdown of six different resources in terms of energy production, in the years 1985 and 2003.
Overall, it is clear that the proportion of oil was dominant among all other resources in both years, while the proportion of oil decreased from 52% to 39% over the period given. Whilst all other types of resource for producing energy rose except nuclear and hydro.
In 1985, the proportion of oil was the highest among all other types of energy source, with 52%. We can also see that, nuclear and natural gas accounted for 22% and 17% respectively. By contrast, the rest of the energy was obtained from other three ( coal, hydro and other renewable), with under 10% each.
In 2003, the proportion of oil stood at 39%. Moreover, natural gas and coal were responsible for 22% and 23% respectively. When it comes to the smaller figures on the chart, nuclear stood at 8%, while hydrogen and other renewable sources accounted for 4% each.
