The bar charts give the statistic on the figure for produced honey and honey-bee colonies between 1970 and 2010 in the United States.
Overall, there was a decrease in both: honey production and the number of colonies. Also, there is a clear correlation between the number of colonies and how much honey these state assembled. It can be seen that the decade, where there was a growth in the production, was preceded by a decade with a rise in the colony’s numbers.
On the one hand, generally, there is a downtrend in both graphs. In terms of colonies number, there was a dramatic declined from 4 million to approximately 1.8 million. However, in the 1970 – 1990 period, the number of beehives increased slightly by 0.2 million
On the other hand, honey-making fell to 110.000 in 1980 and then went up to 120.000 after a decade. The difference was around 10.000 tonnes. Considering the bee communities the quantity of it continued dipping relatively, as both beehives and honey producers dropped significantly from 1990 to 2010.
