Overall, referring to the chart, it is clear that the percentage of vacuum cleaners and refrigerators increased steadily from 1920 to 2019. Moreover, there was a gradual rise in the ownership of washing machines, while the percentage of households with washing machines was less than that of other appliances. According to the second graph, the amount of time spent on housework reduced significantly.
Turning to the first chart, we can observe that there was a sharp rise in refrigerator ownership to 90% by 1960. After that, the figure for having a refrigerator went up slightly to 100%. Furthermore, the percentage of households with washing machines stood at about 40% in 1920 and increased up to 70%. However, it dropped slightly in 1980 and then reached almost 72% in 2019. Additionally, vacuum cleaner ownership started at about 30% in 1920 and grew steadily to 100% in 2000, remaining at that level until 2019.
According to the second graph, some changes could be seen. The number of hours of housework per week in each family was 50%. Whereas it declined by roughly 15% in 1980. In 2019, it again fell by about 12%.
