The first line graph demonstrates the percentage of households that owned three different electrical appliances, while the second line graph depicts the amount of time spent for house in one country over the period between 1920 and 2019.
Overall, the number of electrical appliances including washing machine, refrigerator and vacuum cleaner owned by household was at the lowest in 1920 which inclined mostly in the following till 2019. Although, the washinig machine was the most popular one to own by households from 1920 to 1940, other two compliance’s ownerships inclined over the later years. In contrast, the number of hours dedicated to houseworks seemed to decline over time.
From 1920 to 1960, the ownerships of washing machine were on the rise, from having 40% ownerships in 1920 to 70% ownerships in 1960. But after that, it slightly dropped to 65% in 1980 and then again, moved back to 70% in 2000, followed by a slight increase to 75% in 2019. The refrigerator showed the most drastic rise over the year, from barely 5% in 1920 to 100% in next 60 years, which continued until 2019. After that, it Vacuum clear was already available in 30% households in 1920, which took later 80 years to reach its peak of 100% in 2000 and continued this way.
The number of hours spent for houseworks per week decreased drastically from 50% in 1920 to 20% in 1960, and then followed by a steady decrease within a range from 15% in 1980 to 10% in 2019.
