Band 6+: The charts below show the changes in ownership of electrical appliances and amount of time spent doing housework in households in one country between 1920 and 2019.

The line graphs provide information about the fluctuations in ownership of electrical appliances as well as the amount of time households spent in doing housework in a specific country from 1920 to 2019.

It is noticeable that the proportion of households that had electrical appliances increased considerably through the years while the number of hours of housework per week gradually decreased over the years.

The percentage of families with vacuum cleaners had a rapid growth from 1920 to 1980, but it remained the same from the years 2000 and 2019. The same statistics can also be seen for the percent of families with refrigerators as it increased massively from 1920 and 1980. Both appliances were used by 100% of households in 2019.

Looking at the other statistics, it is important to point out each family would spend 50 hours per week to do their house chores in 1920, but the figures rapidly went down until the year 1960. Moreover, the numbers remained almost steady after 1960 up until 2019.
