In overview, the usage of electrical appliances have grown significantly over the time. Refrigerators have became a necessity since 1920 onward by a rapid increase among the country. Usage of Washing machine and Vaccum cleaner rose dramatically in the same time span with a few fluctuations. By increase of mentioned appliances, amount of time spent doing housework dipped simultaneously.
All the appliances saw a growth during the this peiord, However the usage of Refrigerator that just started since 1920, rapidly rose and reached to 90% of usage before 1960 and reached to the peak in 1980, when all househoulds owned it. While 40% of families have owned Washing machine in 1920, after a mild increase till 1960, the ownership fluctuated during the years and eventually ended up around at 75% of usage in 2019.
On the other hand, by rise of technology, housework went down over the time. The avergae housework from 50 hours per week in 1920, declined to less than a half of the same hours in 1960 at 20%. After this fall, hours slighlty dropped over the same time span and it declined to only 10% in the last year in 2019.
