The diagram presents the percentage of families with children grouping by employment status in Canada in 1976 and 2014. Two pie charts showed most of people in Canada were families with dual-earner couples and couple with just single earner father.
In 1976, the percentage of families was about 51 percent couples with single earner father. It was the biggest number in that year. The second place was couple with husband and wife that earned money. It was around 33 percent.
However, in 2014, the number of dual-earner couples who employment was bigger than couples with single earner father. It was 38 percent higher than the percentage of dual earner couples. It was different with families in 1976. The proportion of the other groups were under 16 percent.
Money was earned by father in most of the number of families in 1976 and 2014. It was just 16 percent families with couples single-earner mother, no earner couples, male lone parents and female lone parents in 1976 and 28 percent in 2014.
