According to the pie chart, Chinese food is the most preferred option, chosen by approximately one third of UK people, while Indian food is the second choice at more than a quarter (26%). Meanwhile, Italian and British cuisines are less popular, at 10% and 9% respectively. The smallest portion of the chart is shared among Greek, Japanese, and Mexican food, which each represents only 1% of the favourite choices.
The bar chart shows that the number of Indian restaurants increased steadily from 1960 until 2009. In addition, the largest increase occurred between 1990 and 1997, rising from around 5,000 to almost 8,000 restaurants. The number reached its peak of approximately 9,500 by 2009. After this peak, the number remained high, but there was a small drop in 2011 before it stabilised at around 9,300 in 2015.
