The given chart represents the population proliferation in some of the megapolises in the world such as Tokyo, New York, shanghai, Bombay, and Jakarta for three different years.
Overall, it is readily apparent that Tokyo had the most number of people in all three years. Bombay and Jakarta witnessed a massive growth in population during the period, whereas Population of New York rose marginally.
In 1970, Tokyo’s population was slightly above 15 million making it the most populated city amongst others. It was followed by New York and Shanghai with a population nearing 15 million and 13 million respectively.Meanwhile, Bombay and Jakarta had negligible amounts of residents. Over the next 20 years, the number of people in New York and Shanghai increased sparsely compared to the other three which experienced a similar growth of almost 6-7 million natives.
In the last phase, Bombay and Jakarta saw a massive surge in population, almost doubling it since 1990. Meanwhile, Shanghai and Tokyo’s population also grew about 8 million and 4 million respectively. New York observed a minimal increase of a million.
