The bar chart illustrates the proportion of students who were boys and girls between 14-16 years old studying foreign languages in 1984 and 2007. Second graph shows the which of those 3 languages were more popular at that period of time.
In general, it can be seen that in both years girls were higher than the percentages of boys and the language of French was the most trendy language. However the Spanish which was the third most popular ones, showed an increase at the last period.
Regarding to the proportion of opposite gender students who were learning other languages, showed a decline. The distribution of girls which was almost stayed at 50 % at first and decreased to 40 %. Similarly, Boys’ figure stood at 30 % and dropped by 5% in 2007.
In terms of 3 languages namely French, German, and Spanish did not change the ranking except the percentages. In 1984, French learners went down by two times from 50 % to 25%. Demand to learn German language was also witnessed a decline at 20 % to 15% in 2007.
The third popular language which was Spanish increased slightly at 5% doubled to 10% in the year of 2007.
