Band 5: The charts below show the percentage of people aged 23-65 in different occupations in one UK town (Ashby) and in the UK as a whole in 2008. (User-Written IELTS Writing Task 1 Sample)

The given charts indicate the proportion of people between 16 and 25 year old who belong to dissimilar professions in a particular town named Ashby and in the whole of England in 2008.

Overall, it is clear that while almost Ashby’s workers engaged in personal service and office work, the majority of British’s people preferred official jobs, personal service and technical work.

Looking at the charts in more detail, personal service at this town had the highest percentage, at 21%, higher than that of the whole country, at 17%. Additionally, workers of both areas made up in the quite majority, nearly a fifth. By contrast, the total of unemployment and construction job just only accounted for 20% in Ashby and the whole portion of England.

On the other hand, the two which need expertise namely professional work and technical work in Ashby have not popular yet, with 8% and 9% respectively. However, in the UK, that of the two approximately doubled. Regarding shop work, there was a minimal decrease of 1% between the former and the latter.
