Overall, younger users spend the largest proportion of their online time on social and entertainment-related activities, whereas older users devote more time to practical purposes such as making bookings and researching health information.
Among the 18-26 age group, social networking is the most popular activity, accounting for 24% of their Internet time. This is followed by accessing music and films at 21% and researching topics such as health at 20%. Playing games also represents a significant share (18%). In contrast, online shopping takes up a smaller proportion (12%), while making bookings for services like travel or cinema is the least common activity, at only 5%.
For the 60-70 age group, the pattern is noticeably different. Making bookings is the dominant activity, comprising 29% of their Internet use. Researching health-related information is also substantial at 26%. Accessing music and films accounts for 17%, and making purchases represents 14%. Social networking (8%) and playing games (6%) are the least popular activities among older users.
