The pie charts depict the proportion of water consumption categorised by three purposes of usage in six parts of the world. Overall, the majority of the countries prioritised industrial and agricultural sectors when allocating water resources.
The marked significance industrial water use was portrayed in the North America and Europe, where 48% and 53%, respectively, of water was used by manufacturing plants. Similarly, both locations allocated proportionately smaller volume of water for other purposes, which domestic water use took up 39% of North American and 32% of European water resources, while the remaining 13% in North America and 15% in Europe of water was used in agricultural industry.
In contrast, all the other countries consumed most of the water for agricultural purpose, evident by the water allocation of 71% in South America, 84% in Africa, 88% in Central Asia and 81% in South East Asia for this sector. In addition, the last three areas had considerably smaller amount of water used for domestic purpose which the figures stood at 9% in Africa and only 7% in central and south east Asia. Comparatively, domestic sector used more than one-third (19% in exact) of the water resources in South America.
