The six pie charts illustrate the various use of water in different regions of the world.
Overall, the data shows that in most countries the majority of water is used for agriculture, while the least amount of it is allocated to domestic use, with the exceptions of North America and Europe.
In North America, 48% of water is used by industries and 39% by the agriculture sector; similarly, Europe uses 53% and 32% for the two sectors. Conversely, in South America the number is 71% for agricultural use, but instead of industrial use, it is domestic at 19% that is using the second highest amount in the country.
Moreover, in Africa, agricultural use takes up the majority of the water resource at 84%, and the same is true for Central and South East Asia, with 88% and 81%, respectively. For this tow of these three regions (Africa and Central Asia), the smallest portion of the resource is utilized for industrial use, accounting for 5% and 7%. However, for South East Asia domestic use is lower than industrial.
