The pie charts compare the proportion of water used for agriculture, industrial, and domestic purposes in six regions of the world: North America, South America, Europe, Africa, Central Asia, and South East Asia.
Overall, it is evident that industrial water use dominates in North America and Europe, whereas agricultural consumption is the primary use of water in South America, Africa, Central Asia, and South East Asia.
In North America and Europe, 48% and 53% of water, respectively, is used for industrial purposes, while less than 40% is allocated to agriculture. Moreover, domestic water usage in these regions accounts for approximately 13-15%.
In contrast, Africa, Central Asia, and South East Asia use more than 80% of their water for agriculture, with South America slightly lower at 71%. Industrial use in these regions remains below 15%. Domestic water consumption in Africa and Central Asia is around 7-10%, whereas South America has the highest domestic water usage at 19%, the largest among all regions.
