The charts illustrate information about how many people chose four various categories of housing for their holiday in three different years.

It is clear that most holidaymakers opted for staying with family during the whole period. Additionally, while the trends for renting apartment and staying in hotels were upward, the opposite patterns could be observed in camping and staying with family.

In 1988, more than a half of holidaymakers decided to stay with family and the figure was twofold higher than that of camping, at 26%. Subsequently, there was a minimal rise to 54% in the proportion of visitors spending their vacation with family ten years later before it dropped slightly to 44% in 2008. Meanwhile, the figure for camping experienced a gradual decline to 12% over a twenty-year period.

The percentage of holidaymakers using hotels started at 15% at the beginning of the period. Following this, having increased marginally by 7% in 1998, the figure stabilized until 2008. Similarly, the figure for renting apartment began with just 7% in 1988 but it climbed considerably to 22% over the next twenty years. This meant that the proportions of visitors choosing hotels and apartments for their holiday were equal at the end of the period.
