The two pie charts compare the percentage of energy production from various sources in a particular country from 1985 to 2003. Overall, it is evident that while oil had by far the largest percentage of sources in 1985, the biggest increase was observed in natural gas over the 18-year period.
Upon closer inspection, it is apparent that oil was the most popular energy resource, representing just over half of the country’s energy sources in 1985. However, by 2003, its share had decreased to 39%. Nuclear energy, at 22%, was the second most popular source in 1985 but dropped to 17% by 2003. Conversely, hydrogen remained constant at a small fraction throughout the period.
On the other hand, natural gas accounted for 13% in 1985 but had risen to 23% by 2003, marking the largest increase among all energy sources. Additionally, coal and other renewable sources increased from 8% to 13% and from 1% to 4% between 1985 and 2003, respectively.
