The graphs shown below reveal the services bought online by consumers in three age categories between the ages of 16 to 44 in Great Britain, in 2014.
Overall, there was significant variability across the age group regarding the percentage of purchases within the three categories. Interestingly, it can be seen in the data that the 35-44 group made more travel arrangement purchases than the other age groups, whilst the 16-24 and 25-34 groups made more purchases in both the film and music and video games categories respectively.
In analysing the data, it clearly shows a clear upward rise in the age groups for the travel arrangements category, starting with approximately 32% for the 16-24 group, increasing by a near 13% to 45% for the 25-34 group, and growing again by another 3% to 48% for the 35-44 group.
Similarly, the figure for the film and music category showed a climb but also a drop in the age groups, starting with 45% for the 16-24 group, a minor jump of a mere 5% to a peak of around 50% for the 25-34 group, and then a noticeable fall of 10% ending at only 40% for the 35-44 group.
Conversely, the number of purchases in the video games software and upgrades category remain constant across both the 16-24 and 25-34 groups being at a steady 25% each: however, this figure dropped by 5% with the 35-44 group.
