Overall, we can vividly witness in the bar chart, the percentage of 4 age groups mostly increases throughout 4 years. Besides, in the pie chart, it can be easily seen that there were just 3 elements of purpose in 2015, such as work opportunities, scholarships and immigration while in 2018, two more reasons appeared, which were overseas education and school graduation.
Beginning with the bar chart, the highest number of Vietnamese students learning English is at the 17-24 age group compared to 3 other age groups. It has a significant increase throughout 4 years with the starting point under 10% in 2015 and reached its peak at 40%. Moreover, the age group of 13-16 and 25-34 shows the same upward trend in the percentage of students learning English in Viet Nam and stops at about 8% and 7% respectively in 2018. Meanwhile, though the 35+ age group witnessed a slight decrease from about 3% to 2% in 2016, it still marginally went up to about 4% in 2018.
Coming to the pie chart, it is easily seen that the reason for work opportunities is the main reason for learning English compared to 3 others. Firstly, the purpose in work opportunities occupied 58% while the reason for scholarship opportunities and immigrations are just 23% and 19% respectively in 2015. Until 2018, choosing to learn English for 2 new purposes which are overseas education and school graduation, making work opportunities factor doubly went down to only 28% while the percentage of overseas opportunities gained 43%. However, the factor of immigrants still remains at 19% as of 2015 and there was 6% in school graduation.
