Overall, the majority of the surveyed countries witnessed upward trends in the levels of water in reservoirs in October 2009 and 2010. Additionally, the maximum percentage of water levels in Canberra was the highest in both two years, while the reverse was true for that of Darwin and Brisbane was recorded with no change.
In 2009, the levels of water stored in Sydney took the lead among other cities, at nearly 80% followed by Canberra, Brisbane with 78%, 58% respectively. However, the maximum percentage of water levels in Melbourne recorded the lowest figure in its reserves, at only 20%, while in Perth and Darwin were around 40%.
One year later, the city having the most abundant levels of water stored was Canberra, at 98% which surpassed that of Sydney, at 80%. The maximum proportions of Melbourne and Perth also increased significantly, at 40% and 75% in turn which Melbourn was considered as the city had the smallest levels of water in preceding year. Conversely, Darwin experienced a sharp decrease in its reservoir water from 40% to about 20%. Finally, the maximum percentage of water levels in Brisbane remained unchanged in both surveyed periods.
