The two chart illustrate propotions of male and female participations in cultural and leisure activities in the UK, in 1996.
Overall, both boys and girls took part in museums activities for similar percentages, but other three activities are different for the gender. For girls, their participation gradually decreased across the remaining categories.
Girls, partcipated in museums activities, accounted for the highest proportion, at 40%, while other 30% of them preferred to dance. Painting and music are equally popular cultural activities, with both attracting about 15% of all girls, it is the lowest share.
Boys also were interested about museums for 40% as well as girls. However, they took part in painting activities twice as much as the opposite sex, for 30%. Music was the activity with only 20% of male participants, whereas dance had the lowest figure, at 10%.
