The flow diagram below illustrates the industrial process of glass container production and recycling.
In general, the whole process of glass production is divided into four parts. It will take five other tasks to complete the recycling of glass.
Firstly, the production process is initiated with the Mixing of the raw materials, which are Sand, Soda ash, Limestone, and other chemicals. Secondly, a Glass furnace apparatus is used to melt the ingredients at 1500 degrees. Thirdly, a Molten glass blower is utilized to make the desired shape of the product. Finally, the product is shaped into the form of a glass container.
In contrast, the recycling of glass is more complicated than the production part, which starts with the collection and accumulation of used glass in a storage facility. The collected pieces are segregated based on their color, followed by high-pressure washing to remove the impurities present. Furthermore, Crushing and Melting are carried out to generate an amorphous structure and molded into desired products.
