The diagram demonstrates how glass bottles are produced and how they are recycled.
Overall, the manufacturing of glass products takes 4 steps, starting from the mixing of different components to turning them into glass containers. Moreover, the recycling of glass is a 5-step process, where melting and moulding are common steps in both procedures.
Firstly, different materials such as sand, soda ash, limestone, and other chemicals are mixed. Afterwards, the mixture is sent to a glass furnace for melting at approximately 1500 C, followed by shaping them into glass containers through a molten glass blowing procedure.
In the recycling procedure, the used glasses are collected, and then they are sorted based on their colour combination. Afterwards, they are washed to get rid of contamination. Next, the used glasses are crushed and melted before being moulded into recycled products.
