The diagrams illustrated the collapse of a headland . Overall , there are a total of four stages in the graph given . However , there are many considerable changes , beginning with a small hole at the bottom of the cliff and ending with a large fragment separating from the entire headland.
Regarding the initial stage , a small hole has emerged beside with various of environmental factors , all of them has facilitated the erosion of the terrain . The second period witnesses the status of the cliff after a few days , it can be seen that a small hole has expanded to a vast cave which resembles an arch . There is a fact that Durdle Door , Dorset is the typical example to expound this phenomenon.
Moving onto the 3rd stage , the top of the cliff has vanished due to the devastation of waters . As a consequence , the outside of the headland has detached and destroyed a half of the headland . Turning to the last phase , as the water levels keep rising , the soil surface still prone to erosion . This process has put pressure on the headland , causing it to retreat and leaving only a stump behind
