The diagram illustrated above shows the design principle for an energy-efficient house and how it works in different climates such as cold climate and warm climate.
As we can see the lower layer of this design is made of an insulating material that will help prevent heat from passing through something. There is an underground floor sun protection and an underground floor heat retention present as well. The yellow arrow mark represents the flow of heat, on the other side we have a reflective roof covering as well that reflects the skylight also. During the warm climate the flow of heat will be upwards as shown in the diagram and during the cold climate the flow of heat will be downwards, so there will be a triple-glazed skylight light & heat maximized.
In conclusion, this is a very efficient house design and the insulation applied will help to minimize the heat inside the house and keep it cool from inside, no matter the climate is a cold one or a warm one.
