The diagram illustrates the life cycle of a fly.

Overall, the diagram depicts a cyclical process involving 7 distinct phases. It begins with eggs being laid and ends with the development of eggs, thus completing the cycle.

The cycle begins with an egg, which becomes a pupa after hatching. The fly remains at this stage for about 10 to 20 days before turning into a young adult. Subsequently, after 20 days, its structure becomes more complex, allowing it to survive independently. Now it has become a fully mature, egg-laying female.

After it lays eggs, the eggs stay the same for eight to 24 hours. It then goes through three larval stages. Then it should go through three stages of larva. At the first stage, it appears as a small worm-like creature, and it develops into the second larval stage of the phase. On average, it takes about four to seven days for it to develop further. Following this, a third-stage larva emerges and again becomes a pupa after a short period, thus completing the cycle.

Task Response

The report adequately describes the fly life cycle, covering the main stages and approximate durations. However, there's room for improvement in terms of organization and clarity. Consider structuring the description more logically, perhaps grouping related stages together. Also, ensure that all stages are mentioned with accurate durations to provide a comprehensive overview.

Coherence & Cohesion

The report is generally well-organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a concluding statement. The cyclical nature of the fly's life cycle is mentioned in the overview. However, the transition between the description of the adult fly and the larval stages could be smoother. Consider using transition words or phrases to better connect these sections and improve the flow of information.

Lexical Resource

The report demonstrates a good range of vocabulary related to life cycles and biological processes. Terms like 'distinct phases,' 'hatched,' 'mature,' and 'larval stages' are used appropriately. To further enhance the lexical resource, consider incorporating more specific or technical vocabulary related to insect metamorphosis or development. For example, using terms like 'instar' to describe larval stages or 'ecdysis' to describe molting could add sophistication. Boost vocabulary complexity to elevate the overall score.

Grammatical Range & Accuracy

The report demonstrates a strong command of grammar with very few errors. The sentence structures are varied and generally accurate. Pay attention to pronoun references to ensure clarity. For example, in the sentence 'After it lays eggs, the eggs stay the same for eight to 24 hours,' clarifying the subject of 'it' could improve readability.
