The diagram illustrates the life cycle of the salmon species, depicting their different stages from spawning to adulthood.
Overall, it is clear that there are 3 distinct stages illustrated in the process, beginning with the production of salmon eggs in the water, and ending with the development of a mature salmon.
At the first stage, the salmon eggs are shown as small stones under reeds. They slowly move to the upper river, which takes about 5-6 months for the salmon eggs to become fry. At this time, a fry is between three and eight centimetres long lives in lower river. Fry live there for approximately 4 years, then they grow and become smolt. In this stage, a smolt can grow to between twelve and fifteen centimetres in length. After that, a smolt reaches the open sea and lives there for about 5 years and becomes an adult salmon. An adult salmon can reach up to seventy-six centimetres in length. The final stage of the cycle is when an adult salmon finds a mate in order to lay eggs. After completing all these steps, the life cycle will begin again.
