The image illustrates the sequence of four steps in the operation of a lock on a canal. Initially, a boat is positioned at a higher water level within a closed lock chamber. In the second step, water drains from the chamber, lowering the water level along with the boat. The third step shows the boat at a lower water level with the lock gates open on the downstream side. In the final step, the boat exits the lock chamber into the lower section of the canal.

The diagram illustrates the process of how a canal lock operates to move boats between different water levels.

Overall, the process consists of four main stages, beginning with the boat entering the lock chamber, and ending with the boat exiting the chamber. The system works by opening and closing gates depending on the water level.

Turning to the details, at the first stage of a canal lock process, gate opens in front of the boat to enter it into the chamber. After that, boat enters to the lock chamber and stay there while the level of water becoming the same as the inside of chamber. The gates nessesarily are in need to be closed to align water level.

Once the water levels become equal, on the third stage of this operation, second gate is opened. The boat is then able to exit the chamber and continue its way on the other canal. Finally, the gates are closed behind the boat, completing the process.

Task Response

The report provides a general overview of the canal lock operation but includes some inaccuracies and lacks detail. The description of the steps is not always clear or logical, and there are some issues with grammar and vocabulary. To improve, focus on providing a more accurate and detailed description of each stage, using precise language and ensuring a logical flow of information.

Coherence & Cohesion

The report generally presents a clear overview of the canal lock operation. However, the flow of information could be improved with better transitions between stages. Consider using more cohesive devices to link ideas and ensure a smoother reading experience. Paragraphing is adequate but could be refined to better reflect the logical progression of the process.

Lexical Resource

The vocabulary used is generally appropriate for describing the process, but there's room for improvement in terms of precision and variety. Try to incorporate more specific terms related to canal lock operations to enhance the technical accuracy of the report. For example, instead of 'gate opens,' you could use 'the gate is opened' or 'the gate swings open'.

Grammatical Range & Accuracy

The report contains several grammatical errors that affect clarity. Focus on improving sentence structure, subject-verb agreement, and correct use of articles. For instance, 'gate opens' should be 'the gate opens' or 'a gate opens,' and 'boat enters to the lock chamber' should be 'boat enters the lock chamber'. Addressing these errors will significantly enhance the report's overall quality.
