The illustration depicts the life process of the sea turtle which is outlined in 11 steps.
Overall, the entire process of the sea turtle’s life cycle starts out with incubation period, which is followed by its long-lasting developmental stage. Finally, relocating to the sandbanks for reproduction purposes finishes the process, with laying eggs, maturing and migrating required to complete all the phases.
The initial stage takes place ashore, where a female sea turtle lays the eggs, the incubation period of which lasts for 8-10 weeks. This is then followed by hatchlings emerging and making their way into the open ocean, which is necessary for maturing, as the juvenile turtles learn to sustain themselves. Next, after approximately 5-20 years, the sea turtle keeps developing physically while migrating in the ocean for 30-50 years.
Subsequently, the sea turtles reach the shore, a phase in which immature and adult turtles are involved in foraging until they are ready for the further step. Once reached full maturity, the female and male adult turtles move to the mating areas to reproduce. Afterwards the male turtle goes back to its foraging spot, while the female turtle returns to the nesting site at two week intervals to lay eggs, which hatch in 8-10 weeks, thus completing the life cycle.
