The diagram represents the manufacturing process of five distinct types of tea. It is seen that the resulting teas are produced by the same leaf, although the difference becomes apparent during the shaping steps.
The figure illustrates that there are four manufacturing steps for all of five teas that are the same. The leaves are grown, then they are plucked, after which wilting occurs. Ultimately ending in the final stage of tea production, it experiences a drying method which is also the same for all. However, during the middle period of production, each tea involves different methods.
White tea is unique because it does not require any extra processing. On the other hand, green, oolong, black teas are all in crafting. Green tea undergoes a steaming process before rolling, skipping the fermentation step, while the other three teas are involved. The crushing activity correlates with full fermentation which further applies to both the large and the small leaves of black tea. Finally, oolong tea is the only type that goes through slight fermentation after the rolling processing.
