The provided maps illustrate the changes of the floor of a central library layout between 20 years ago and today.
Overall, it is clear that past plan of the central library has developed according to the current condition such as introducing a computer room, replacing self-service machines and installing a café.
In the past 20 years, in the ground floor, the central library had three rooms which were children’s books room, in the north east of the library, room for CDs, videos and computer games, in the north west of it and a reading room which provided newspaper and magazines, to the left of the entrance. Adult fiction books were displayed between CDs, videos and computer games room and the reading room. In front of the adult fiction books was the space for adult non-fiction books. Tables and chairs were in the middle of the library. There was an enquiry desk in the south east of the library, to the right side of the entrance.
Currently, the central library has developed. Obviously, there were four rooms, locating a room at each corner. The reading room is replaced with a computer room, to the left-hand side of the entrance. Then, in front of the computer room, reference books are placed and after that, room for computer game makes way for children’s fiction books, which includes storytelling events and sofas. A lecture room is introduced to the opposite of the children’s fiction books room. There are spaces for adult fiction books, information desk and self-service machines between the lecture room and the café which is situated at the right-hand side of the entrance.
