The bar chart compares the male and female movie genre preferences (comedy, action, crime, science fiction, western, horror, thriller and fantasy).

Overall, the chart shows that while men outnumber women in all types, the gender gap for each genre was not significant, with the notable exception of Science fiction, where males exceeded the number of their female counterparts by over two to one.

Looking specifically at movies with a detective element, namely Action, Crime and Thriller, these genres can rightfully be called the most popular ones among men, along with Comedy. Horror films, on the other hand, were the least attractive, with only 18 people responding.

Regarding other gender preferences, females, as well as males, tend to choose Crime, Thriller and Comedy movies and avoid horror ones. Therefore, there are extremely similar trends except for one category: western films, where the number of women is almost three times less compared to men (30 and 11, respectively).
