The given maps illustrate the differences between two transportation systems in underground using tunnel that are used in two Australian cities.
Overview, it can be seen in the maps, the most noticeable difference is the tunnel systems are used for different upper-area condition in each city, meanwhile the tunnels were built in similar type of model but with different lengths and depths. In addition, the tunnels were built in difference year and cost.
As we can see in the maps, its shown that the first tunnel which located under the bridge was built over twelve-years period covered by sand, started from 1986 until 1998 and cost for $555 million, in comparison the second tunnel which located under the city road, built faster over four-years period in 2002 until 2006 covered by stone and clay, and cost more at $1,1 billion.
Furthermore, the tunnels have difference length between the city tunnel and the bridge tunnel at 1,5 meters depth with 2,2 kilometers length and 2,5 meters depth with 3,6 kilometers depth, respectively. The city tunnel can be passed by two-lines car and the bridge tunnel can be passed by three-lines car.
